David put in a lot of time and effort into researching scholarships and it paid off for him. Not bad for a summer job. There aren’t that many summer jobs that would pay that kind of money. Note in the listing the types of scholarships he received. He received scholarships for his academics, talent (writing), community service, disability and extracurricular involvement. In addition he received the Gates Millennium Scholarship which I will discuss in more detail in my next post.
- Private scholarships are important because they can be applied to any loans you have to reduce your student loan debt.
- I recommend students search for a minimum of $5000 in private scholarships.
- Think of researching scholarships as a part time job. Spending as little as an hour a day can reap tremendous rewards.
